Level Up Literacy

Confidence in Reading Starts Here

About Kate

Kate grew up in beautiful Campbell River, B.C., where her love of learning (and probably a few well-worn library books) first began. After graduating from Timberline Secondary School in 2003, she followed that love to Vancouver Island University, earning her Bachelor of Education in 2009.

It didn’t take long for Kate to notice something important in her classroom: some incredibly bright, creative students were working twice as hard just to keep up with reading and writing. She knew they didn’t need more worksheets — they needed instruction that worked with their brains, not against them.

This curiosity led her to complete a post-graduate diploma in Special Education, deepening her understanding of how children learn in wonderfully different ways. Most recently, she completed her Orton-Gillingham training and is certified as a Practitioner Associate-Interim with OG Canada.

Today, Kate blends structured, evidence-based literacy instruction with patience, encouragement, and just the right amount of creativity — helping students build not only stronger reading skills, but stronger confidence too.

Sometimes all it takes is the right approach and a little encouragement for everything to begin to click. If your child is ready for that “aha!” moment, we would be delighted to walk alongside you on their literacy journey.
